Today is draft day in the NBA. Draft day more or less marks the start of the new 2009-2010 NBA season for the Dallas Mavericks. Mavericks fans are sitting on pins and needles waiting to find out what happens inside that little room in the American Airlines Center. The room where Donnie Nelson will make a pick that puts the Dallas Mavericks back on the road to an NBA Championship. It is a day of hope and optimism about the upcoming season.

Conversely, just up the block the end of the road is near for the former home of the Dallas Mavericks. Reunion Arena is being destroyed. It is being stripped of its walls that once looked upon some of the greatest Mavericks players and teams in the history of the franchise. Of course, some of the worst also played in what now looks like nothing more than a hole in the ground.

Soon enough the hole in the ground will be filled, showing no reminisce of what once was the meeting ground for Mavericks fans everywhere.

Hopefully, this afternoon the 2009 NBA Draft will be able to fill a few holes that the Mavericks might have in their up coming season’s roster.

Stay tuned.
