A couple things
1.) I know I said I wouldn't post press releases on my blog, but this is only the second time this season so that isn't too bad.
2.) Sometimes a press release says it all and I cannot make it funnier or more basic.
3.) I am going to avoid saying something negative about the Mavericks starting such a large initiative as “Guard the Planet.” I won’t say that it is a peculiarly ambitious plan for the Mavericks considering they cannot guard ½ of a hardwood on game nights.
4.) By saying that I am not going to say it...did I really say it?
5.) No, I didn’t really say it, but I did write it.
6.) It is all comedy. *Disclaimer so I don't get fired.
7.) I love the Mavericks even if they cannot guard the halftime, free throw shooting, towel twirling granny.
8.) All jokes aside this is not just about putting a leather ball in an orange cylinder. This is about putting the worlds waste in the appropriate cylinder so we can all enjoy our planet for generations to come.
All that said…here are the details on Guard the Planet” week:
Guard the Planet
The Mavs are proud to launch our green initiative, Guard the Planet, during the NBA’s Green Week. The Mavs will kick off their green awareness program on April 5th during the Mavs v Phoenix game. Recycling will be available in the arena for all of April courtesy of Coca Cola Recycling and all the electricity used for April home games is off-set by 100% renewable energy credits courtesy of TXU Energy. Renewable energy is the cleanest form of power because it’s derived from clean, non-depleting sources like wind or hydropower. It’s bought and sold in the form of Renewable Energy Credits. TXU Energy has donated 100% Green-e Energy certified renewable power.
In addition to these great new additions to Mavs game nights, there will be great eco-friendly giveaways and events on April 5th:
•Be sure to bring old plastic shopping bags and turn them in for a reusable grocery bag courtesy of Texas Army National Guard. Visit table located outside section 109 on the plaza concourse.
•Ride the DART and be entered into a drawing for a post game player meet and greet. Visit table located outside section 109 on the plaza concourse.
•Come early because the first 5,000 fans in the door will get reusable coffee mugs from Community Coffee
•Stop by the AT&T Plaza and learn how you can get involved with events and organizations like EARTHFEST 2009, Blue Skyways Collaborative, Water Sense Informative Information and EcoDallas.
•Participate in green trivia games on the AT&T Plaza before the game to win fun prizes!
