KIDS DAY AT THE OFFICE

Alexis Cuban has sat courtside for a Mavericks game many times in her first five years on the planet. Her first order of experiences has been front row center court with her mom. A fan couldn’t get much better than that – what a great place to start!

But last Friday night she got to sit courtside with her father, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. Mark’s seat is in the front row baseline, perpendicular to the Mavericks’ bench. Everyone pretty much knows that by now!

Fans also know he likes to be close to the action so he can put in his two cents. Mark sometimes speaks softly and at other times speaks loud and harshly with barbed words at the officials for their lack of skill at their profession.

So did Alexis like being next to the action and her outspoken father? “I liked it but I was a little scared about the great big players. Daddy thought it was too loud for me, but it wasn't!”

Even so, “Daddy” sent her packing up to the owner’s suite after the 1st quarter. “It was her first game, so she did pretty good!” says Mark as he sent her on her way.

Better put, I think Mark is the one that did good with her sitting there. Her trip to the suite was probably more fitting to him than her. I am sure he probably had a few things to say to a few dudes wearing gray shirts with numbers on the back. Things he probably couldn’t say with her sitting there?

Then again, that’s just me. Maybe he was asking the refs their favorite type of food so he could have their locker room catered after the game. I have ear plugs in most of the time but I sort of read lips, and it did seem like he was being cordial.

Who knows for sure? I will take my ear plugs out next game.
